Christian Charles Philip Bale is an English actor, born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire on 30 January 1974.
Bale drew public attention at the age of 13, when he was cast as the main character in the film Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun (1987). Based on J. G. Ballard’s story, Bale acted as an English boy who parted with his parents and consequently found himself lost in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. In 2000, he got serious acclaim for his representation of serial killer Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. He got himself a reputation as a technique actor after he lost 63 pounds to act the position of Trevor Reznik in The Machinist (2004).
On 29 January 2000, Bale wedded Sandra “Sibi” Blažić, a former model, make-up artist, and private assistant to Winona Ryde. They have a daughter, Emmeline, who was born on 27 March 2005 in Santa Monica, California. In March 2014, it was confirmed that Bale and his wife were expecting their second child. The Bales have, since 1992, resided in Los Angeles, California.
