She started to appear on screen as an actress in the year 1995 when she was cast on the motion picture Welcome to the Dollhouse. The said film earned him a Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance and nominations such as Satellite Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Young Artist Award for Best Younger Actress in a Feature Film.
