Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian singer, songwriter, model, record producer, and choreographer. She was born on February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. The only child of William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll, she wrote her first song at the age of eight and eventually earned her first album when she was 13. She became noticeable in the year 1996 when she released her album Pies Descalzos which sold out 3 million copies. In the year 2000, she became remarkable in the music industry when she won her first Grammy Award which was the Best Latin Pop Album for her album Shakira: MTV Unplugged. She also gained fame for her popular songs “Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes” which belonged to her Laundry Service album. In the late 2012, she became one of the judges of the reality talent competition “The Voice”.
Shakira was first known to be dating Argentinian lawyer Antonio de la Rúa. They had a long-length relationship, particularly seeing each other from 2000 to 2010. After their break-up, the two remained civil with each other and even stated in their interviews that they continue to support each other as business partners.
