Born to parents Joy Marie Palm-Miller and Wentworth Earl Miller II, he is the brother of Leigh Miller and Gillian Miller. In 1998, he was first seen on screen as an actor, portraying a significant role in one of the episodes of the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 

Soon after, he was seen in certain episodes of the TV series Time of Your Life, playing the role Nelson. He soon became prominent when he was cast on the popular TV series Prison Break as Michael Scofield from 2005 to 2009. Presently, he is seen on The Flash, playing the roles Leonard Snart and Captain Cold.

It was in August 2013 when Wenworth came out as gay. During the past, he was noted to be dating Canadian actor and musician Luke Macfarlane. They stopped seeing each other in the year 2008. Shortly after their break-up, he started seeing Mark Liddell but their relationship did not last long.
