A product of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, he is the son of Sue Latimer and Edward Highmore. He first came out on screen as an actor in the year 1999 when he was cast on the film Women Talking Dirty, playing the role Sam.
His first small screen appearance happened when he was cast on the TV film Happy Birthday Shakespeare, playing the role Steven Green. He was also seen on the TV film Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story in the year 2001. Presently, he appears on the TV series Bates Motel and acts the role Norman Bates. He is also working for the upcoming British period drama miniseries Close to the Enemy.
