Jessica Elizabeth Sanchez was born on August 4, 1995 in Chula Vista, California to parents Edita and Gilbert Sanchez. Known to have American, Mexican, and Filipino descent, she has attended school at Eastlake Middle School in Chula Vista. At the age of two, she was already inclined to singing. It was when she turned 10 when she was seen on Showtime at the Apollo, singing the song “Respect” by Aretha Franklin. From that moment on, she began to join series of singing competitions including America’s Got Talent and eventually finished on the semi-finals through wild card. In 2008, she became even more noticeable when she performed the America’s national anthem in a San Diego Chargers versus New York Jets football match. In 2012, she had her major breakthrough when she finished the second place on the American Idol.
Jessica was known to be dating her co-American Idol contestant DeAndre Brackensick in 2013. They both met on the said reality talent competition.
