The daughter of Josephine and John Ormond, she first had appearances on television when she was cast on TV series such as Traffik and Capital City. She soon gathered an amount of attention in the year 1991 when she was nominated for the Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series. She also won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film in the year 2002 and since then, she was regarded as one of the most talented and successful actresses in the industry. Presently, she stars as Joanna Beauchamp on the TV series Witches of East End.
Julie is known to be the ex-wife of the actor Rory Edwards. They started dating after they met on the production of Wuthering Heights. Unfortunately they separated in the year 1994.
