The sister of Patrick Hurd-Wood, she is the daughter of Sarah Hurd-Wood and Philip Hurd-Wood. She attended school at Rodborough School and Godalming College,University College London.
She initially gained attention in show business when she was cast as Wendy Darling on the American fantasy film Peter Pan in 2003. The said film earned her a nomination for Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA: Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor and a nomination for Young Artist Awards (Best Performance in a Feature Film) – Leading young Actress. In the year 2005, she again earned a nomination, particularly for the Teen Choice Awards: Choice Movie Scream Award Movie for her impressive performance on An American Haunting.
