Patricia Rooney Mara was born on April 17, 1985 in Bedford, New York. Known to be of Irish, German, French-Canadian, and Italian descent, Rooney was particularly seen on screen for the first time in the year 2005, playing a minor role on the direct-to-video film Urban Legends: Bloody Mary. Soon after, she was seen on the film Dream Boy where she was credited as Tricia Mara.
Since then, she was seen on different movies and even TV shows including the 2011 film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo wherein she played the role Lisbeth Salander.
